1. Purpose of the Role

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning that promotes academic excellence, Christian values, and the holistic development of students. The teacher will support the school's mission by nurturing girls into faith-driven, competent, responsible, and compassionate leaders.

1. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Teaching and Learning

• Plan and deliver effective lessons aligned with the relevant curriculum and the school's Christian ethos.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the subject(s) being taught.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet different learning needs.
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning materials, and assessments.
• Assess, record, and report student progress accurately and on time.
• Provide remedial and enrichment support where necessary.
• Encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning.

3.2 Subject Specialisation and Flexibility

• Teach the major subject(s) of specialisation as assigned by the school.
• Where required, competently teach related or additional subjects within the teacher's qualifications and area of expertise.
• Participate in curriculum development and improvement initiatives.
• Keep up to date with developments in the relevant subject area and teaching methodologies.

3.3 Classroom Management

• Maintain an organised, disciplined, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Promote respect, responsibility, cooperation, and positive behaviour.
• Apply fair and consistent discipline in accordance with school policies.
• Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
• Identify students who may require additional academic or pastoral support.

3.4 Integration of ICT in Teaching

• Integrate appropriate ICT and digital tools into teaching and learning.
• Use technology to enhance student engagement, understanding, creativity, and research.
• Promote responsible and ethical use of technology.
• Use available digital resources to support lesson preparation, assessment, and communication.

3.5 Creativity, Innovation, and Real-Life Application

• Link classroom learning to real-life situations and challenges.
• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and innovation.
• Provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.
• Encourage students to develop independent thinking and lifelong learning skills.

3.6 Extracurricular Engagement

• Support and participate in extracurricular programmes and school activities.
• Mentor students through clubs, sports, spiritual activities, academic programmes, and community service.
• Contribute to the holistic development of students.
• Support school events and activities as assigned by management.

3.7 Communication and Collaboration

• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and school leadership.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and other official activities.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and support staff to achieve school goals.
• Maintain appropriate and timely records and communication relating to students. 

3.8 Spiritual and Moral Development

• Uphold and promote Christian values in daily interactions.
• Participate in devotions, chapel services, prayer, and other spiritual programmes.
• Encourage students to develop strong moral character and positive values.
• Serve as a role model of integrity, compassion, responsibility, and faith.

1. Professional Conduct and Safeguarding

• Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
• Observe appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
• Maintain respectful and appropriate interactions with all students.
• As this is a girls' secondary school, all teachers are expected to maintain professional boundaries and appropriate conduct that ensures a safe, respectful, and comfortable learning environment.
• Adhere strictly to safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Report safeguarding concerns through the appropriate school procedures.
• Protect the confidentiality and dignity of students.

1. Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Registration with relevant education authorities, where applicable.
• Secondary school teaching experience is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

The teacher will work with the school to identify and appropriately utilise resources required for effective teaching and learning, including:

1. Remuneration

• Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and the school's salary structure.
• Candidates may be required to indicate their salary expectations as part of the application process.

• Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree and recognised teaching qualification in the subject of specialisation.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach at secondary-school level.
• Demonstrate ability to explain concepts clearly and use appropriate teaching methodologies.
• Encourage analytical thinking, problem-solving, experimentation, and practical application.
• Relate scientific and mathematical concepts to real-life situations.
• Integrate ICT and appropriate digital resources into teaching.

Additional Requirements – Mathematics

• Strong understanding of secondary-school Mathematics.
• Ability to develop students' logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use practical and real-life examples to explain mathematical concepts.

Additional Requirements – Chemistry, Biology and Physics

• Ability to conduct practical and experimental lessons.
• Ability to safely use and manage relevant laboratory equipment and materials.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
• Ability to prepare students for practical examinations and assessments.
• Ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.

Additional Requirements – Computer Studies

• Strong knowledge of computer systems and applications.
• Ability to teach computer theory and practical skills.
• Ability to use educational technology effectively.
• Ability to promote digital literacy, responsible technology use, and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of programming, networking, databases, or other relevant ICT areas will be an advantage.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the relevant secondary-school curriculum.
• Develop students' critical thinking, analysis, research, communication, and interpretation skills.
• Encourage students to relate classroom learning to society, culture, history, the environment, and current issues.
• Use discussions, debates, research, presentations, case studies, and other appropriate teaching approaches.
• Integrate ICT and relevant digital resources into teaching.

Additional Requirements – Bible Knowledge

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Bible and Christian principles.
• Ability to teach Scripture accurately and encourage students to apply biblical principles to daily life.
• Support the school's Christ-centred mission and spiritual development of students.
• Demonstrate strong Christian character and integrity.

Additional Requirements – History

• Strong knowledge of historical events, people, societies, and developments relevant to the curriculum.
• Ability to develop students' ability to analyse historical evidence and understand cause and effect.
• Ability to connect historical knowledge with contemporary society and real-life issues.

Additional Requirements – Geography

• Strong knowledge of physical and human geography.
• Ability to use maps, diagrams, data, fieldwork, and other geographical resources.
• Ability to connect geographical concepts to environmental, social, economic, and real-life issues.
• Fieldwork experience or knowledge of geographical practical activities will be an advantage.

Candidates applying for Languages positions should:

• Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree and recognised teaching qualification in the subject of specialisation.
• Demonstrate excellent command of the language being taught.
• Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
• Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
• Use appropriate literature, texts, discussions, presentations, and other resources to enhance learning.
• Encourage students to communicate confidently and effectively.
• Integrate ICT and digital resources into language teaching.

Additional Requirements – English

• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Ability to teach English Language and Literature where applicable.
• Ability to develop students' grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, composition, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to prepare students for secondary-school examinations.

Additional Requirements – Chichewa

• Excellent command of spoken and written Chichewa.
• Strong knowledge of Chichewa language and literature where applicable.
• Ability to develop students' reading, writing, comprehension, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to promote appreciation of Malawian language, culture, literature, and heritage.
