Position: Plumber
Location: Kuwala Christian Girls School
Reports To: Project Manager / Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose
The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of all plumbing and water systems within the school and farm facilities. The role requires a proactive individual who can identify plumbing issues, recommend solutions, prepare material requirements, and ensure reliable water supply systems for the school community.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Installation and Maintenance
Install, repair, and maintain water supply systems, drainage systems, pipes, fittings, taps, toilets, sinks, water tanks, and related plumbing fixtures.
Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance of all plumbing systems.
Respond promptly to plumbing breakdowns and emergencies.
Ensure all plumbing works comply with safety and quality standards.
Water System Management
Install and maintain water distribution systems for both the school and farm operations.
Monitor water pumps, storage tanks, borehole systems, irrigation systems, and related equipment.
Assist in the planning and implementation of new water infrastructure projects.
Inspection and Reporting
Identify plumbing faults, leakages, damages, and potential risks.
Prepare written reports outlining identified problems and recommended corrective actions.
Estimate and prepare lists of tools, materials, and spare parts required for repairs and installations.
Maintain records of maintenance activities and completed works.
Communication and Coordination
Communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance requirements and project progress.
Work closely with other maintenance staff, contractors, and suppliers when required.
Provide guidance on the proper use and care of plumbing facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum of a Trade Test Certificate, TEVET Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Plumbing.
At least 3 years of practical experience in plumbing installation and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings and technical specifications.
Good knowledge of water supply, drainage, irrigation, and pumping systems.
Ability to identify faults and recommend practical solutions.
Skills and Competencies
Good written and spoken English communication skills.
Ability to prepare basic reports, quotations, and material requisitions.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
Desirable Attributes
Experience working in a school, institution, farm, or similar environment.
Knowledge of solar-powered water pumping systems will be an added advantage.

The position involves working both indoors and outdoors across school and farm facilities.
Occasional emergency call-outs may be required to address urgent plumbing issues.
